THE YEAR 1906

This will boggle your mind, I know it did mine! The year is 1906. One hundred years ago.
What a difference a century makes!
Here are some of the U.S. statistics for the Year1906:

************************************
The average life expectancy in the U.S. was 47 years.

Only 14 percent of the homes in the U.S. had a bathtub

Only 8 percent of the homes had a telephone.

A three-minute call from Denver to New York City cost eleven dollars.

There were only 8,000 cars in the U.S., and only 144 miles of paved roads.

The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.

Alabama, Mississippi, Iowa, and Tennessee were each more heavily populated than California.

With a mere 1.4 million people, California was only the 21st most populous state in the Union.

The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower!

The average wage in the U.S. was 22 cents per hour.

The average U.S. worker made between $200 and $400 per year .

A competent accountant could expect to earn $2000 per year, a dentist $2,500 per year,? a veterinarian between $1,500 and $4,000 per year, and a mechanical engineer about $5,000 per year.?

More than 95 percent of all births in the US. took place at HOME.

Ninety percent of all U.S. doctors had NO COLLEGE EDUCATION!

Instead, they attended so-called medical schools, many of which were condemned in the press AND the government as "substandard."

Sugar cost four cents a pound.
Eggs were fourteen cents a dozen.
Coffee was fifteen cents a pound.

Most women only washed their hair once a Month, and used borax or egg yolks for shampoo.

Canada passed a law that prohibited poor people from entering into their country for any reason

Five leading causes of death in the U.S. were:
1. Pneumonia and influenza
2. Tuberculosis
3. Diarrhea
4. Heart disease
5. Stroke

The American flag had 45 stars. Arizona, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Alaska hadn't been admitted to the Union yet.

The population of Las Vegas, Nevada, was only 30!!!!

Crossword puzzles, canned beer, and ice tea hadn't been invented yet.

There was no Mother's Day or Father's Day.

Two out of every 10 U.S. adults couldn't read or write.

Only 6 percent of all Americans had graduated from high school.

Marijuana, heroin, and morphine were all available over the counter at the local corner drugstores.

Back then pharmacists said, "Heroin clears the complexion, gives buoyancy to the mind, regulates the stomach and bowels, and is, in fact, a perfect guardian of health." ( Shocking? DUH! )

Eighteen percent of households in the U.S. had at least one full-time servant or domestic help.

There were about 230 reported murders in the ENTIRE U.S.A. !

Now I forwarded this from someone else without typing it myself, and sent it to you and others all over the United States, possibly the world, in a matter of seconds!

Try to imagine what it may be like in another 100 years.

IT STAGGERS THE MIND, EH....!??

Vegas Trip

I am home now, been home for a few weeks, Well not really, I got home and then had enough time to do laundry and put things away from the Vegas trip when I was off again for a week of Camping.

OK, Vegas was a blast, I had a great time. But a week is way to long to spend there. Anyhows, Spending time with my daughter was awesome.. the day she arrived I met her at my room as hers was not ready yet. We then went to Toby Keiths Resterant at the Harras Hotel & Casino. The food was awesome, Afterwards went went back to Treasure Island where we where all staying. Brandy and her boyfriend went to their room and I went to mine to rest...

Brandy called me about 2 hours later, to help her decide what she was going to wear out, Her and Darius were going to a show and dinner alone that night.. so she ended up wearing a RED dress with Black heels and man was she Beautiful.. After her dinner and show we all met at the Rivera at a night club called Syn City.. it was a lot of fun, at midnight she was to turn 21, (Yes my baby is now an adult. and yes this is very hard to except.) but here she is beautiful as ever.

She had a blast, the guy at the door asked her for ID and she was ear to ear smiles when she had to show him LOL.. thats what she wanted, she wanted to be carded so she could prove she was 21. LOL....

OK the next night was her Birthday.. My baby was 21 years old and I was feeling a little depressed about the whole thing. SHe had plans to go to a place called Hamburger Marys for her birthday dinner. This was to be a surprise or more of a shock value to her family. LOL as this place was surpose to be like the one in Hollywood where the guys and the shows were all gay and trans.. LOL.. But we found out that the name changed and so didn't the entertainment.. SO her boyfriend Darius quickly made plans for Gillys at the Frontier Hotel & Casino, Here she is on the machanical bull...

Her whole family from California was there. some where impressed and some were not. I for somereason found it funny that none of them could except what they were seeing from this young lady.. A comment was made that my daughter was turning out just like her mother. LOL. Hey what can I say.. Like Mother, Like Daughter, LMAO..

That night, I decided I was gonna stay in and hang out around the casino while Brandy & Darius went to the Lexuor to a night club called Rhaw with her brother & sisters from the california side of the family. So she went upstairs to get dressed to go out and she was stunning, she took my breath away and the thought the this was my daughter was so amazing.. However the rest of the family is still having issues with the way she dresses.. they feel she should be totally covered. Therefor they had problems with it.. Me I thought she was beautiful and yes I would like to see her covered as well, after all she is my daughter.. But then she is also 21 years old and I am not going to tell her how to dress.. But truth, is she not beautiful? OK for some reason I am having trouble getting the pic I want to post. LOL.. Oh Well hang in there and I will post them all at once. maybe that will work, LOL...

OK Now on Sunday I took Brandy for a day at the SPA that was located right in our Hotel. the name of the spa was called WET.. it was awesome, we both got a sugar scrub and a swedish massage. the we just relaxed and had a wonderful mother/daughter talk that was way over due.. we then went to our rooms where we rested for a bit. the Brandy and Darius went out to dinner and another show, I stayed in the room most of the night until about 11:30pm when Brandy called me and asked if I wanted to go for a late snack and coffee.. of course I did and we met downstairs where we talked more and just had a quite time...

Monday was her last day, she was going to be leaving in a few hours and I was really feeling depressed.. I didn't want to see her leave. I just never get enough time with her.. so we all met for breakfast and then we went and walked the strip and got some goodies to take home, me for my grandchildren and her for some of her friends.. it was a great time, she did get a little loopy on a hurricane she bought while we were walking. Man was it hot out there and the iced drinks were very good.. we then went back to the room where she and Darius got their belongings and went downstairs to get the car and off to the airport they went.. Yes I hugged her and tried very hard not to cry when she drove away.. However the tears were falling as I walked back to my room to have some time to myself and let loose.. I did, the waterfalls came. I hate it when we have to depart like that..

I spent the next day just browsing around and throwing a few dollors into the slot machines where yes I did win some. But what I won was made up by my hubby of what he lost. LOL.. but then we knew going in what we could afford to lose and what we couldn't.. I think my hubby forgot that at first. But when he started losing on the tables against the people who were there to practice for the world poker tournment, he quickly gave up and came to the room. LOL

I almost forgot.. My Hubby also took me to see a show called Mystere' , or as most know it by, Cirque Du Soleil, Let me tell you. this was awesome.. the tickets were 95.00 per person and worth every penny... I have to say it was the best show I have ever seen and will be going again when ever I can or when ever they happen to be in the same area I am in. LOL...

OK thats about it for Vegas.... I arrived Home late Wed night on the 19th and did not take me long to get into my own bed and fall asleep..

After which I finished up my cleaning and laundry and I was off for another week of camping.. that was also a lot of fun and if you ever get the chance to take the kids and go to Yogis Jellystone Park which is in a few states.. go.. you won't regret it.. the whole place is centered around the Kids. They had a hersey chocolate slip and slid.. the kids loved it.. My grandson was amazed. this was his first time camping and he did not want to come home, LOL.. through it all, it rained on and off most of the week and we stuck it out.. it always was nice in the evenings where we could cook dinner and enjoy the campfire and then it would rain again.. But it was a great time in all and I can't wait to go camping again.. at least one more time this summer will be good. LOL... well thats about it for my summer so far... the next post will be more pictures of Vegas and of my daughter and I....

My update is now Over. LOL
Hope you are all enjoying your summer..
Huggz to all
